Historical exhibition: Castle in ambush

The permanent exhibition “Castle in ambush” tells the story of castles which were the strongholds of Europe against the Turks. They made a defence line in the western area of the Hungarian Kingdom, which prevented more intensive Turkish breakthroughs into Central Europe. A part of this defence line was also the Lendava Castle.

One of the most famous battles around Lendava took place in 1603, but the Turks never conquered Lendava Castle. With the exhibited replicas of cold steel and firearms, military equipment, flags and other requisites, the creators of the exhibition managed to recreate the circumstances and the spirit of the turbulent times.
