Andy Warhol (1928–1987), American painter, filmmaker, illustrator and writer, is one of the most significant artists of post-war America whose work became world-famous. He was one of the founding fathers of the Pop Art movement and is considered to be its most eminent representative. In his works, he expressed the values of a capitalist society, such as consumerism, money, glamour, fame and prestige.

Andy Warhol was born in Pittsburgh, USA, as Andrej Varchola. His parents, Julia and Ondrej, were Slovakian Rusyns. His mother was born near the town of Medzilaborce, where the Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art is located. The guest exhibition at Lendava Castle from the aforementioned museum demonstrates Warhol´s rich artistic oeuvre. It displays the artist´s famous works of art, such as Marilyn Monroe, Flowers, Mao Tse Tung, and the Electric Chair, which, thanks to Andy´s interpretations, became world-famously established icons of Pop Art. Another unique feature of the Lendava exhibition lies in the fact that, apart from Warhol´s art, it also incorporates a display of his personal belongings.
